PCP’s Weekly Dose: In Time Review

1 Nov

Happy November and we hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween. Now that all of the shenanigans are out of the way, PCP can get back to business. We’ve returned to review the sci-fi action flick starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Josiah, Marcus and Shegaw go fairly in-depth here to make up for the brevity of our Halloween bonus episode but, it’s pretty spoiler-free. Be sure to return for Episode 051: Naughty Dog tomorrow as we anticipate Uncharted 3.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Real Steel Review

10 Oct

After a week off, the Weekly Dose back and in full effect. Well, it’s back anyway. The roster is back to 5 again at least but, only 3 of us got to go out and see our review for the week: Real Steel. Yep, the Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em lawsuit waiting to happen is on the cutting board for us. Be sure to check back with us this Wednesday for episode 049: Yu-Gi-Oh!? We’ll get back to ya on that. In the meantime, enjoy some impromptu vaudeville.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Drive Review

19 Sep

Ok, last week, one of us said that Warrior was their favorite movie of the year. But a mere week later, Ryan Gosling and his fingerless gloves may have changed their frame of mind. Yep, this week we continue our post-summer reviews by reviewing a small flick by the name of Drive about a stunt/getaway driver that gets into a heist gone bad.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Warrior Review

12 Sep

Breaking from the mold of our general discussion preset for Weekly Doses, Audie, Marcus and Shegaw decided to see the movie Warrior for a full review of ha-has and man-tears. We discuss the movie that has us fear for Batman’s life and briefly talk about a few of our favorite fighting movies (a future episode perhaps?). Be sure to come back Wednesday for 045: Summer Movies in Review Deux (as it has been one year since we first started this podcast).

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Transformers 3 Review

4 Jul

Happy birthday America! What a better way to spend your 235th birthday than with a nice, tall glass of Pop Culture Podcast? Seriously, we have a lot of shout-outs to give as usual in this one before we get in to our signature delivery of entertainment news. What’s it this week? We talk more Thor in 2013, Tom Hanks (hopefully) trolling us, Marcus’s Gamefly woes and the secrets of DC relaunch lying within a shot-glass. We’re also test a restructured anime/manga section. This week includes Bleach, Deadman Wonderland, A Fairytale, Medaka Box, Tokyo Hitman Reborn and more. Yes, more! In tv, we discuss CM Punk’s delivery of the greatest promo ever. We close things up with our review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Beware, there are spoilers. We’ll be posting our 035: Devil May Cry this Wednesday so be sure to come back for that.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Ocarina of Time 3D Review

27 Jun

Congratulations to Spill on Spill Dot Con and to New York on basic human rights. Still, the rent is too high and the crew is in full effect! After a couple of, let’s call them more intimate episodes, all six of us are back to record. What’s more? We bring the funny and plenty of news after 10 minutes of shout-outs to you, our friends and listeners. We talk McDreamy as Dr. Strange, The Hobbit and smell-o-vision in movie news. We talk news PS3s and Arkham City DLC in video games. We’ve got plenty of comics news as well as the return of our anime & manga section. In TV news we have 100 Bullets being adapted, FX’s Powers development and the upcoming Green Lantern series. We wrap this one up with a review of Ocarina of Time’s 3DS port. Don’t forget to check back in Wednesday for 034: Transformers in prep for the upcoming movie. If you don’t know Transformers beyond the the Bay flicks, check it.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Super 8 Review

13 Jun

*WARNING*This Episode Has Been Afflicted With Audio Damage*WARNING*

Sorry about the technical difficulties on this one. After 20 some-odd minutes, there is a distortion that kicks that was undetectable while recording. You’re free to try and stomach it, and if you do, you’re a soldier. Otherwise, this one will have to go in the “Lost Episodes” bank.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: X-Men First Class Review

6 Jun

It feels good to have the full band back together even if it means we talk too much. To put it simply, we did a lot of jibber-jabber this time (we recorded an uncut 2 hours). But, we’ve trimmed that down for you guys to avoid spoilers for all of the stuff we talked about. This includes a possible Hawkman movie, Sony’s Vita and PSN service, the road to E3’s near completion and the especially big week in comics. We’re talking deaths and the entire industry being shook up. As promised, we have our review of X-Men: First class (don’t worry, it’s spoiler free except for a single instance). We wish we could give the entire review, spoilers included because it was just such a good time but, that’s not fair to those who haven’t seen it yet. It’s the full crew this time and very full show. Don’t forget to check out episode 031: Spring Movies in Review.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Hangover Part II Review

30 May

First and foremost, happy Memorial Day America. Now, sorry folks but, me done effed up again. Apparently things got pretty crazy the other night and we lost half of the crew. Don’t worry though, Carrol from HR will track them down (hopefully they’re still with those nice lady-boys). In the meantime, you have the original wolf pack holding it down. We managed to get a bonus-sized episode as we discuss directors leaving movies that should not be, the Avengers (again), Green Lantern getting down to the wire, the road to E3, racism in the comics world, Ghostrider being a chick and each of us reviews a tv season finale (Cougar Town, Supernatural and Modern Family). But, wait! That’s not all! We also discuss what is apparently the greatest superhero movie of all time and close up with our review of The Hangover: Part II. This week we’ll be doubling up on episodes to make up for lost time so be on the lookout for 029: Role-Playing Games and 030: Fantastic Four

PCP’s Weekly Dose: TV Finales / Fast 5 Review

23 May

First of all, RIP Randy “Macho Man” Savage. Entertainment news with the Pop Culture Podcast crew for the week of May 17-23. It’s another full episode for you guys this week as there was a lot to talk about. We nerd-out about the dream team ensemble behind the Tintin trailer, Tanto whitewashing, sour grapes with Activision lead to Modern Warfare 3 leaks, PSN redemption (ie free shwag) and a lot of other stories. We have a different discussion/review section for you guys this week. We have a rapid-fire review for several TV finales this past week (Chuck, Hawaii 5-0, The Office) and do a more in-depth review of Fast 5 since it’s kind of a down week. Don’t forget to check back in this week for episode 028: Spider-Man. You know you want to.
