PCP Episode 082: Martial-Arts

29 Aug

There are at least two things we like around these parts: movies about fighting and fighting about movies. One of us is also particularly fond of Jazz-tap, but that’s for another day (Josiah). It’s time to revisit the Saturday Morning Kung-Fu Theater of the past as we reminisce about some of our favorite disciplines, masters, video games and movies where hitting someone really hard is the plot.

PCP Episode 081: Steven Spielberg

22 Aug

He’s…made…so…many,,,movies. We were so excited about the idea of doing this episode, but this many hasn’t not taken a break since he didn’t have money. You know the man’s name and so many of the movies, TV shows and even games that he’s made. Why feign a description. Jaws, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, ET, The Color Purple, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Amistad, Saving Private Ryan…the list does in fact go on. Listen, laugh, learn and may we all bask in the arguably the most impressive resume in Hollywood.

PCP Episode 080: Survival Horror Games

16 Aug

We know what you’re thinking. “Why would they do an episode of PCP on survival horror games in August?” Well, it’s quite simp-BOO! That’s why! The element of surprise! Come October, all of you will be expecting this ep anyway. We like us some scary vidya games time and again around these parts. Resident Evil, Silent Hill…there are others I’m sure. Seriously, we delve quite in-depthly on the games that have scared us over the years and we hope that you’ll share your stories with us as well.

PCP’s E3 in Re-Vi…ew

13 Jun

Last week, E3 happened. You know, that big palooza game journalist goodness where nerds yell, “shut up and take my money”. It kind of sneaked up on us this year, but we’ve paid attention to all the press conferences, watched the trailers and analyzed all the playthroughs we can. We breakdown Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA and Ubisoft’s wares and talk some of the biggest games and products to come to come. Halo 4, Resident Evil 6, smartglass, Last of Us, Beyond, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, the 3DS and so much more. We also bid a fond farewell to one of our favorite game entities: Kevin Pereira.

PCP Episode 073: Sonic the Hedgehog

1 May

What? Y’all didn’t know Sonic was an Avenger? I mean, everybody else is! No, we have to play a little catch-up and quench our gamer thirst by talking about Sega’s 90s embodiment of a mascot: Sonic. You know what to expect and we’ve even enlisted the help of Carrol from HR and PCP fan Ousmane to join us again. We’ve got jokes galore as we discuss all those characters that aren’t Sonic in the franchise and we reminisce about titles from the original to Sonic Generations. We also talk the future of the franchise. Grab a chilli dog and enjoy.

PCP Episode 068: BioWare

21 Mar

Mass Effect 3 came out, there’s a whole lot of hoopla about the ending. What better reason do we need to have in order to profile arguable the greatest RPG developer in all of gaming. We talk the company’s origin’s and touch on its earliest efforts. But this more about the big titles like Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and Dragon Age. We know why you’re here though and this might as well be 068: Mass Effect. We heavily discuss ME2 and get into ME3 and its controversial ending (spoiler free).

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Mass Effect 3 Review

12 Mar

We promise, the title is accurate and we do eventually talk about Mass Effect 3 (47-minute mark). Before we do however, we have another series of vaguely connected conversations that will tickle your funny bone. What does that include? G.O.O.D. Music vs Young Money, fast food for breakfast/lunch/dinner, proper chip bag opening technique, who’s gonna break Kanye’s heart next, kid movies not for kids, Invisible Children’s Kony 2012 campaign, Peyton Manning, what makes a bro, 3 rules of getting women and much more including the review. Be sure to check back in for 067: Deadliest Warrior.

PCP’s Weekly Dose: Ramble

23 Jan

We’re slipping, we know! We’re sorry for all the hold-ups, but we try to make up for it by going off the cuff here and just talk about everything that comes to mind. What does that entail? Dragon Age II, game and movie endings, the “Sh** __ People Say” glut, parents listening to your music and Thor typing in all caps.
